Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $388,218)
The purpose of this award is to continue the work the Mesa Police Department began in their 2002 the Cold Case Sexual Assault Investiation Project and address staffing issues and caseload increases. Additional personnel will also be hired to effectively investigate the department's sex crimes cold cases unit. This will allow continued progress as noted in 2004 when the project was expanded to one additional detective to review cold case homicides resulting in 31 successful DNA suspect profiles obtained from sex crime cases.
