Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $187,186)
The purpose of these funds will be for the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit to review over 200 open cold case investigations, and 44 Special Victims Unit's open cases that include rape/first or second degree assault. This grant will allow detectives to consistently work these cold cases, attend training on investigating cases, purchase equipment, and travel to interview and re-interview witnesses. Baltimore County Police Department Homicide and Special Victims Units will also acquire the resources to actively pursue cases, work with Forensic Services Section biologists, and other cold case units throughout the country.
