Solving Cold Cases with DNA - Riverside County Sheriff''s Cold Case Unit

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has over 2,441 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1937. In July 2007 the Sheriff's Department formed a Cold Case Investigation Team and assigned four homicide investigators to investigate cold cases. The Department is requesting funding for Sheriff's Department Investigator overtime to review, prioritize and investigate cases, for investigative travel expenses, for overtime for the Department of Justice DNA lab personnel, and for private DNA lab testing all of which will help to expedite the movement of these cases through their system.
