Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $395,601)
The overall aim of this project is to estimate the association between neighborhood context and outcomes related to employment and recidivism among a cohort of former prisoners released from Michigan state prisons in one calendar year (2003). The current application proposes to link administrative data from the Michigan Department of Corrections with census tract variables to measure neighborhood characteristics. The applicants will use multilevel hazard models to investigate the relationship between neighborhood characteristics and timing of recidivism for a sample of parolees (n = 3,689) released from Michigan prisons. Inverse Probability of Treatment Weighting (IPTW) and sensitivity analysis will be used to assess and strengthen causal references. The Principal Investigators of this proposal are Jeffrey Morenoff and David Harding.
