Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $300,000)
The goal of this effort is to develop a compact, low-cost instrument for state and local law enforcement or corrections personell to screen persons for metallic and non-metallic contraband concealed in body cavities using Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT). GE Security will lead a team including IRE and the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to develop a prototype device and demonstrate its technical feasibility and operational and economic viability.
Deliverable for phase I is a design and plan for the program.
The users of this technology will be state and local corrections and law enforcement personnel.
