Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $125,000)
This grant will support the work of IACP's newly formed Research Advisory Committee (RAC), whose mandate is to help federal, state, county, and local law enforcement identify key research issues and conduct timely research through partnerships with researchers. One task of this committee is to produce an annual national law enforcement research agenda to help local agencies prioritize major and emerging policing issues for research. The one-year funding grant will support a survey of IACP membership on their views on priority search issues; plan for and hold an annual and midyear meeting of the RAC; create a national research agenda for use by law enforcement agencies; disseminate this agenda to both police and research communities; and design and pilot one technical assistance effort to enable one local law enforcement agency select and implement a research project on a priority topic. Based on the experience and outcomes of this one-year project, NIJ will decide whether to support the RAC for a second year. CA/NCF
