Scientific Working Group on Dog and Orthogonal Detectors (SWGDOG)

The objective of this project is to provide support to the Scientific Working Group on Dog and Orthogonal Detectors (SWGDOG), a partnership of local, state, federal and international agencies including law enforcement and first responders. Modeled after the successful precedent of a variety of other scientific working groups, SWGDOG aims develop internationally recognized consensus-based best practice guidelines developed by a membership of respected scientists, practitioners, and policy makers representing diverse backgrounds.

With phase IV of this program, NIJ intends to continue funding SWGDOG for the purpose of publishing its guidelines, supporting swgdog.org, and bringing international members of the detection community to the United States for two general meetings. The first will be held during September 2008 in Fredericksburg, VA; the second during March 2009 in Dallas, TX.
