Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $375,000)
The purpose of this project is to demonstrate enhanced information sharing through a phased implementation of the Criminal Intelligence Sharing Plan. ARJIS will be the project manager responsible for developing a demonstration project to illustrate inter-state information sharing among justice agencies, with a focus on utilizing existing infrastructure and systems, and evaluating the operational impacts to public safety operations. In August 2003, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) released their recommendations for national public safety information sharing in the publication, Criminal Intelligence Sharing: A National Plan for Intelligence-Led Policing. Enhanced information sharing is critical to improving the capacity of law enforcement and other emergency agencies to protect the American public against terrorism and all other criminal acts that threaten its safety.
