Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $1,978,955)
To begin enhancement of existing public safety radio communications technology in the Middle Rio Grande Border Region of Texas to improve interoperability between local, county, tribal, State and Federal law enforcement agencies. It is proposed that an open standards-based VHF high-band communications network be established throughout the nine country region, thus establishing a true regional public safety communications system when completed. The common infrastructure deployed during this effort will include hardware, software and interconnectivity resources that will allow multiple agencies operating across diverse jurisdictional boundaries to communicate seamlessly.
