Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $157,451)
NIJ's DNA Capacity Enhancement Program seeks to improve the infrastructure and analysis capacity of existing State and local crime laboratories that conduct DNA analysis, so they can process DNA samples efficiently and cost-effectively. These improvements are critical to preventing future DNA backlogs, and to helping the criminal justice system realize the full potential of DNA technology.
