Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $500,000)
Planning Systems Incorporated will provide, in close collaboration with the Hampton Police Division/Newport News Police Department, a six-month demonstration and evaluation of the System for Effective Control of URban Environment Security (SECURES) gunshot detection technology. PSI will install and support the demonstration equipment, compile technical performance information, and through its teammate, the Center for Society, Law and Justice at the University of New Orleans, provide liaison with the police departments and community groups and manage the data collection for the NIJ-led evaluation of the technology, process and policing impact.
