Project Summary 2003IJCX1012
The proposed prject willdevelop the Reentry Mapping Network (RMN) and pilot and disseminate this model for mapping prisoner reentry at the neighborhood level. The RMN will collect and analyze local data on incarceration, reentry, and community well-being, and will also map and analyze that data and develop policy response based on those findings. The RMN will include a partnership of three cities, chosen from six potential partner sites identified by the grantee with input from the funding agency. This project's goals are to better understand the dynamics and correlates of prisoner reentry at the local level; to identify problems that result from prisoner reentry and then develop strategies to address them at the neighborhood level; to assess the feasibility and value of this approach ; and to facilitate coordination between State and local agencies to respond to these reentry-related problems. This project will assist the selectedpilot sites to collect local, address-level data on incarceration, reentry, and community well being; to conduct spatial and other analyses of that data; to develop policy responses in collaboration with communtiy stakeholders and practitioners; and to document findings.
