This awardee has received supplemental funding. This award detail page includes information about both the original award and supplemental awards.
This award will provide funding to the University of Colorado, Pueblo to continue the work of the Western Forensic and Law Enforcement Training Center (WFLETC). This work includes casework in explosives analysis, fire debris analysis, soil analysis and other forms of trace evidence analysis. Case work in the area of trace analysis, especially explosives is being done to supplement the already overburdened Federal laboratory systems. The Center will continue to act as an analysis location for the simpler, more mundane types of analysis that the Federal laboratories do not have time to do or that do not meet their submission requirements. These analyses are being done at no cost to agencies within the state of Colorado. Additionally, there will be a continuation of training classes that have already been developed as well new classes that are currently being planned.
