Project Summary for 2002 RD-CX-K005
Plumsted Township Board of Education of New Egypt, New Jersey, will work with the New Jersey Business Systems of Robbinsville, NJ, to develop, deploy and implement T-PASS, Teacher-Parent Authorization Security System, using iris recognition technology. School staff members, faculty, and parents will be solicited to voluntarily enroll into the program by having a close-up photograph taken of an iris (the colored part of the human eyes). This photograph will be stored electronically in a database and compared against the iris scans of people seeking authorization to enter the school. Software will be developed to interface the technology with student information applications, allowing school personnel to positively identify parents or guardians or others
authorized by them, when releasing students for early dismissal from school.
