The Importance of Data to the Medicolegal Death Investigation Community and Stakeholders
This webinar will cover the role and importance of data collected by medical examiners and coroners in the practice of medicolegal death investigation (MDI). Medical examiners, coroners, and death investigators amass information about decedents for the primary purposes of identification and determining the cause and manner of death. This information is used for many purposes essential to the internal workings of the MDI office, such as those that support and improve office operations. The data is also used to support forensic science to ensue justice and medical research aimed at improving medical diagnoses. This webinar was presented by the NIJ Forensic Technology Center of Excellence on November 2, 2021.
