Product Counterfeiting in the United States

Description

From 2002-2015, 8.6 million counterfeit products worth $159 million were seized in the United States.

Seized counterfeit products –

  • 64% pharmaceuticals
  • 31% electronics
  • 5% foods

Product counterfeiting offenders –

  • 85% male
  • 56% white
  • 67% incarcerated
  • Average 39 years of age

Product counterfeiting victims –

  • 63% are trademark owners
  • 56% from the electronics industry
  • 37% are individual consumer victims
