Predicted Probabilities of Police Notification for Femail Victims of Rape
Rape reporting trends as indicated by NCS data (from 1973 to 1991) and NCVS data (from 1992 to 2000). Trend graphing of 1973 to 1991 (NCS data) shows that the proportion of reports of rapes committed by known assailants increased faster than reports of rapes committed by strangers. Trend graphing of 1992 to 2000 (NCVS data) shows a dramatic narrowing of the gap between the proportion of reports of rapes committed by known assailants and strangers.
