Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $249,928)
This project will continue development of a prototype system for unobtrusive monitoring of prisoner activity (including motion, breathing and heartbeat) to increase corrections officers' situational awareness during continuous observation of prisoners who are deemed at-risk of suicide. The system is based upon a modified version of a commercialized radar sensor that was originally used as a motion detector for home security systems.
