Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $1,152,958)

The proposed project has four main components: (1) expanded inventory and case review in New Orleans of cases not covered by the 2009 project (violent felony crimes less than rape or murder); (2) outreach and presentations by agencies participating in the 2009 project to other jurisdictions around the state, demonstrating the benefits of a total inventory of closed case evidence by a trained, funded team; (3) evidence inventory and case review in targeted parishes using the 2009 projects model; (4) case review and targeted evidence searches in parishes not needing an inventory.
