Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $658,348)

This grant proposal is on behalf of an interagency collaboration between the Minnesota Board of Public Defense (the fiscal agent), the Minnesota County Attorneys Association, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Innocence Project of Minnesota. These agencies have partnered together as the Minnesota Justice Coalition: Postconviction DNA Testing Initiative. The Minnesota Justice Coalition (MJC) was formed pursuant to a grant awarded in 2009 from the U.S. Department of Justice Postconviction DNA Testing Assistance Program, and is applying for NIJ Postconviction DNA Testing Assistance Program funds to continue reviewing and testing cases that could lead to potential exonerations in Minnesota.
