Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $163,815)
At this time there are over 317 missing person cases assigned to the LASD Homicide Bureaus Missing Persons Unit. The purpose of this proposal is to identify missing persons through the gathering of DNA samples from found human remains and potential family members. Upon receipt of these samples, they will be forwarded to the California Missing Persons database for comparison with unidentified person samples submitted from the Los Angeles County Coroners Office and other coroners offices throughout the state.
