Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $384,960)
Since 2008, the FWPD has identified 139 cold cases with a high potential for possessing evidence that might lead to a DNA profile. Fifty-one (51) of the 139 originally identified have already been sent for DNA testing. Under this program, the FWPD Cold Case Detective and Forensic Crime Laboratory (Crime Lab) personnel will evaluate the remaining 88 cases and prioritize them, based on the criteria listed above and their potential to be solved. Once prioritized, an estimated 55 of the 88 cases will be sent for DNA screening and processing with the ultimate goal of uploading profiles into CODIS.
