The West Virginia University (WVU) Forensic Science Initiative (FSI) plays a critical role in the identification, development, coordination, and execution of forensic science resource and development projects that directly aid state and local forensic science laboratories. The FSI will continue the FORESIGHT project. The FORESIGHT project is a business-guided self-evaluation of forensic science laboratories across North America. The participating laboratories represent local, regional, state, and national forensic agencies. Faculty from the WVU College of Business and Economics are providing assistance and guidance. Curriculum development will investigate and detail the history of patterned evidence and questioned documents, their techniques and methods to develop academic curriculum that supports the current understanding of the "state of the art" in their forensic disciplines. Finally, the proposal offers training for professionals at the "Continuing professional Development Courses for Forensic Professionals" offering two separate weeks of training.
