The purposes of this project include first determining the need by the law
enforcement community for lower cost aviation platforms, then determining what technology might be required to enhance the effectiveness of those platforms. This project proposes to examine technologies such as airborne still camera systems, video camera systems, video downlinks and air-to-ground law enforcement communications systems. Further, this project seeks to facilitate the exchange of information between State, local and tribal criminal justice agencies and the NIJ's research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) programs.
