Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $278,584)
The overall goal is to develop a system to improve the efficiency and capacity of forensic laboratories to process every sexual assault kit submitted for analysis using novel solutions that can be disseminated nationally. The proposed solutions are to 1) automate the differential extraction process, 2) integrate all phases of DNA analysis into a single automation-assisted system, and 3) interpret DNA profiles using software systems. ca/ncf
