The goals of this project are to: 1) perform DNA testing of unidentified human remains and family reference samples and upload the DNA profiles into the FBI's National DNA Index System, 2) provide anthropological and odontological analyses of skeletal remains for all applicable cases requested in order to provide the most appropriate samples for DNA analysis, 3) continue to educate and improve awareness of the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification for easier access and utilization, 4) conduct field testing of new technologies designed to increase both the throughput and the amount of genetic information obtained from degraded and compromised skeletal remains, and 5) provide the ability to upload DNA into CODIS version 6.0 databases which are generated by qualified laboratories. ca/ncf
