This award will provide funding to Justice and Security Strategies, Inc. to study neighborhoods, crime, and collective efficacy in the City of Miami, FL. Finding determinants of communities and neighborhoods that lead to crime reduction and applying that knowledge to neighborhood governance could lead to safer streets. Collective efficacy, the criminological theory that links social control and social trust, holds the promise for effective crime reduction.
