The North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission (Commission) was established to investigate and evaluate post-conviction claims of actual innocence. The Commission is authorized to review North Carolina felony convictions where (1) the individual asserts complete factual innocence and (2) there exists credible, verifiable evidence of innocence, which was not presented at trial or considered during post-conviction proceedings ('new' evidence).
