Purdue will assess how a smaller HDTV camera can be used as an in-vehicle camera for surveillance and for biometric identification/verification purposes. Purdue anticipates that the use of HDTV cameras in police vehicles may provide many benefits including images that are easy to interpret, online processing of real-time biometrics, and enhanced officer safety through identification of those with criminal histories.
