Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $93,781)
This effort is to build and deploy for testing a voice-to-voice translator that both issues pre-programmed phrases in multiple languages, as well as receives and translates into English a test set of foreign language responses. This device is called in this proposal a one-way plus limited response (1+LR) voice-to-voice translator.
The project will modify the existing VRT circuit board, integrate it with a tactical 'hear-through' headset and other hardware as necessary, and develop new software to accomplish the one-way and response translation. The system resulting from this development will be field-deployable and provide the basis for an initial operational test of the form-factor and translation performance.
