Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $397,400)
The objective of the New York City Domestic Violence Digital Evidence Program is to strengthen prosecutorial outcomes in domestic violence cases through expedited evidence processing and delivery. The program would also provide an opportunity for New York City to develop strategies to further expand the use of digital evidence. While digital evidence technologies have the potential to produce high quality evidence, capturing and transmitting certified files that meet evidentiary standards is complicated. This program would develop digital evidence protocols while expanding the use of digital evidence in domestic violence prosecutions.
