Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $989,477)
This award to North Dakota State University will provide funding for the establishment of a forensic DNA analysis laboratory. The presence of a forensic DNA laboratory at North Dakota State University would allow for service activities by providing nuclear and mitochondrial DNA (mitDNA) analyses for regional crime laboratories, particularly those from the nine states associated with the Midwest Forensic Resource Center. This laboratory would also serve as a cornerstone to initiate a research program into improving the current analytical procedures used in nuclear and mitDNA analyses, and provide laboratory training for a new PhD degree in DNA Forensic Science.
