Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $496,750)

This award will provide funding to the City of Colorado Springs for the establishment of a full-capacity forensic DNA analysis capability in the Pikes Peak Metro Crime Laboratory. By serving as the regional DNA analysis resource, the Pikes Peak Metro Crime Laboratory would support the second largest metropolitan center within the State of Colorado and could significantly enhance clearance rates for violent crime throughout the entire region.
