Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $128,802)
The objective of this project is to compare the Polynomial Texture Mapping (PTM) technique to conventional approaches for image analysis, and to developing a portable device for field use through modification of an existing system. PTM is an image analysis technique developed by Hewlett Packard that offers the potential for higher resolution and better contrast imaging of impression evidence, in particular shoe and tire impressions.
