This award aims to demonstrate the reliability of DHPLC to detect and clearly resolve mixtures of mitochondrial DNA or all classes of mtDNA polymorphisms including c-stretch variants, insertion/deletion variants and sequence polymorphisms in both GC -rich and AT- rich areas in the HVI and HVII region of the human mtDNA 2) to efficiently seperate and recover individual components of DNA mixture for subsequent analyisis by direct DNA sequencing and then to confirm the accuracy of the resulting sequence data and 3) with regards to the absence of cross-contamination between individual samples in the sample tray and between individual assays.
