The primary function of the Commission is to adopt standards, policies and procedures for the accreditation process, conduct accreditation workshops, and conduct a total of 32 pilot programs of accreditation during the grant cycle.

Funding is requested over the next two years for the FEPAC, an ad hoc committee of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, to establish this accreditation program and to accredit the first 32 academic programs.
