PROJECT SUMMARY 2002-DN-BX-K028

DNA analysis used in conjuntion with the CODIS is a powerful investigate tool beginning at the crime scene with the collection of evidence and ending with a judicial concluison. For Codis to be truly effective and DNA to reach it full potential , aiding the criminal justice system in solving crimes, DNA database must be populated with both offenders profilies and DNA profiles from crime scene evidence. DNA is especiallt useful in case where no suspect in known. DNA profilies obtained from evidence collected in cases where there is no suspect can be compared to local, State, and national DNA database through CODIS for a match between the evidence and a convicted felon.
