Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2001, $498,900)
This award is supplement number 1 to grant 2001-RC-CX-K009. With the requested funds, the The National Academy for Forensics and Computer Investigation (NAFCI) at Central Piedmont Community College will conduct needs assessments in regional investigative and crime laboratory communities; upgrade NAFCI training facilities, including a state-of-the art facility for the critically-needed field of computer forensics; produce training interventions that focus on practical exercises and hands-on skills development; and measure the interventions' outcomes. The mission of the NAFCI is to improve the quality of regional investigative services through innovative training programs that link cutting-edge forensics research with criminal justice practitioners. Grant funding will enhance the evidence handling capabilities, especially in digital evidence, of law enforcement and medico-legal personnel in the Southeastern U.S.
