The Institute for Security Technology Studies is a principal national center for counterterrorism technology and cybersecurity research, development, assessment, training and technical support. ISTS is prepared to provide continued state-of the-art research and development to support counterterrorism and cybersecurity research mission. ISTS proposes to continue this vital research in three strategic areas: 1) cybersecurity research, concentrating on information security and protection; threat characterization and detection of emerging threats; 2) investigative research into infrastructure assurance, especially threat detection, investigation, analysis, and prevention; 3) emerging threats and technology assessments to identify and assess emerging terrorism and cybersecurity threats, to research technological and related policy-based solutions, and to determine where research and development in cyber security and counterterrorism are most needed.
