NIJ funds research and development to improve how forensic evidence is gathered and used and supports the enhancement and creation of tools and techniques to identify, collect, analyze, interpret and preserve evidence.
To help spread the word about this work and engage the broader scientific community, we regularly attend and host symposia and poster sessions at Pittcon. For example, at Pittcon 2019 we hosted two Invited Symposia, two Organized Contributed Sessions, and a Poster Session, all highlighting recent applications of chemical and biological analysis to current issues in forensic science and criminal justice.
