Invariably the defense expert will have to admit the general scientific acceptance of DNA typing and acknowledge certain leading scientific articles or learned treatises. The prosecutor should have the defense expert also acknowledge the widely used non-forensic applications of DNA. The more concessions the prosecutor can secure from the defense, the less the science will be vulnerable to attack.

Non-forensic Applications of DNA

Examples of non-forensic applications include paternity, medical applications, mass disaster identification, and wildlife management.
