Abstract
"Webinar Focuses on Reducing Traffic Fatalities" describes the features of an August 2019 webinar in which two NIJ LEADS scholars discuss their projects for reducing traffic fatalities in urban and rural areas. "Safe Schools Maryland Tip Line Offers Two-Way Anonymity" describes a tip line available in all 24 Maryland counties, which can be accessed by students, parents, school staff, and community members through a phone number, the internet, and a free mobile app. "Capital Punishment, 2017: Selected Findings" presents statistics from the Bureau of Justice Statistics annual data collection on capital punishment for 2017, which includes data on the number and race of prisoners with a death sentence at year-end 2017 by state and the number executed and time elapsed from sentence to execution by year from 1977 through 2017. "Tribal Crime Data-Collection Activities, 2019" describes activities by the Bureau of Justice Statistics in collecting and improving data on crime and justice in Indian country. "Public Safety Technology in the News" contains information on a new training simulator, a new panic button app for active-shooter situations, and the use of video chat for 911 calls.
