NIJ FY 2022 Invited to Apply - Research on the Impact of Public Policy on Racial and Ethnic Disparities in the Justice System

NIJ seeks applications for funding of investigator-initiated proposals for evidence-based nonpartisan analyses of existing evidence to examine how observed racial and ethnic disparities in the justice system might be reduced through public policy. NIJ is interested in receiving proposals for research in either the criminal or juvenile justice context, or both. 

NIJ FY22 Design, Implementation, and Testing of a National Model for Technical Violations

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for funding for rigorous research and evaluation projects from accredited academic institutions   in partnership with supervising agencies to design, implement, and test parole   or probation supervision models that reduce revocations for technical violations while ensuring successful re-entry and minimizing recidivism through adoption of appropriate revocation policies coupled with evidence-based services. With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects targeted toward developing a better understanding of the domestic radicalization phenomenon, and advancing evidence-based strategies for effective intervention and prevention.  Under this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals in four topics as they relate to radicalization to violent extremism: research to inform terrorism prevention efforts; research on disengagement, deradicalization and reintegration; evaluations of programs and practices; and research on countering mis-, dis-, and mal-information. NIJ is particularly interested in proposals that explore the radicalization of Americans to white nationalist extremism and identify and advance evidence-based strategies for effective intervention and prevention.
