Research and Evaluation of Domestic Terrorism Prevention, Fiscal Year 2020

Closing Date
This solicitation seeks to build knowledge and evidence related to strategies for effective prevention of terrorism in the United States. Applicants should propose research projects that will primarily benefit, and have clear implications for, criminal justice agencies and their attendant communities at the state, local, and tribal levels.

Domestic Radicalization and Terrorism

Countering and preventing terrorism is a primary concern for state and local law enforcement agencies as well as the federal government. Terrorists are those who support or commit ideologically motivated violence to further political, social or religious goals. The goal of NIJ’s work on terrorism is to provide community leaders with evidence-based practices for bolstering resilience and developing communitywide responses that can prevent and mitigate threats posed by terrorists.

Research and Evaluation on Terrorism Prevention, FY 2019

Closing Date
The Domestic Radicalization and Terrorism program strives to better understand the primary drivers of radicalization and what can be done to prevent or intervene during the radicalization process through programmatic efforts. In FY2019, NIJ will emphasize an interest in evaluations of new and existing demonstration programs to prevent terrorism. NIJ will encourage applicants to submit projects which conduct phased, comparative and multi-site programmatic evaluations, help the field better understand risk factors, and develop risk assessment tools.
