The Westchester County Forensic County Crime Laboratory used the funding from this grant to purchase an automated DNA extraction robot.
Abstract
Prior to this purchase, a very labor-intensive manual extraction protocol was used that limited analysts to processing no more than six samples at a time. The DNA extraction robot allows analysts to process as many as 48 samples at a time and has increased the number of specimens analyzed per hour from 4.16 to 24.89.
