This project will support a national study of internet- and technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation, including the development, testing, and administration of a national data collection from law enforcement agencies to produce accurate and reliable national estimates of, information about, arrests for internet- and technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation crimes.

With this solicitation, the National Institute of Justice seeks proposals to conduct a single evaluation project that measures the effectiveness of two programs administered by Street Law, Inc (Street Law). With financial support from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), Street Law will implement the Legal Life Skills program and the Police & Teens program over a two year period.

The Longitudinal Research on Delinquency and Crime solicitation is intended to support the expansion or extension of one or more ongoing/existing longitudinal research studies that focus on delinquency and crime throughout the life-course, which may include childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. Applicants are encouraged to adopt a holistic approach to the study of child and adolescent development and the emergence, persistence, and desistance of delinquent and criminal offending.

This program was transferred to the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for funding a single evaluation project to examine the implementation and effectiveness of a juvenile corrections executive leadership training. The OJJDP-funded training will assist juvenile facility superintendents and other juvenile corrections personnel in their efforts to develop and implement effective facility practices and strategies for youth in their custody.

This will be an NIJ Continuations solicitation to include all three program offices. Awards may be grants or cooperative agreements.

Awards made under this funding opportunity are either made non-competitively or are the result of an administrative funding adjustment.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for funding of multidisciplinary research projects addressing three topics: 1) The impact of fatigue and stress on officer performance. 2) Enhancing strategies for officer interaction with mentally ill individuals. 3) Advancing Resiliency for the Forensic Workforce- Understanding the Impact and Management of Stress, Burnout, and Vicarious Trauma. This solicitation supports the U.S. Department of Justice priority of protecting officers and other public safety personnel.

NIJ is seeking applications for the funding to maintain and enhance the National Juvenile Justice Data Analysis Program to ensure that vital statistical information is available to the field regarding juvenile risk behaviors, juvenile victimization and offending, and the juvenile justice system response to law-violating behavior. These important data inform juvenile justice policy and practice at the federal, state, and local levels.

This is a new solicitation undertaken this year to address the administration's interest in better understanding the nexus of crime and immigration, both legal and illegal. This will involve research on the contributions of illegal immigrants to violent crime and other forms of crime as compared to legal immigrants and native populations to include subcategories of illegal immigrants and crimes.

NIJ is seeking applications for the development of a validated instrument for users of victim services to assess outcomes such as, but not limited to, satisfaction, needs addressed, additional needs identified and referrals. This solicitation is focused on the development of a validated, multi-lingual tool, as well as a platform for easy distribution. The project is not to exceed a 36-month period of performance. This solicitation supports the U.S.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks to build knowledge on best practices in offender reentry initiatives. Specifically, NIJ requests proposals for rigorous research to examine reentry initiatives that incorporate promising practices, strategies, or programs. For this solicitation, NIJ is interested in supporting evaluations of innovative reentry initiatives that focus on juveniles, young adults (aged 18-24), and adults with a moderate-to-high risk of reoffending. A particular focus on the risk of reoffending with a violent crime is encouraged.

NIJ seeks proposals for innovative, investigator-initiated technology research and development (R&D) projects to apply advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to promote the successful reentry of offenders under community supervision. Ideally, the R&D funded through this solicitation will result in fielded AI solutions that remain in use with community supervision agencies at the completion of the project.

Through this solicitation, NIJ will provide small planning grants to develop proposals for new and innovative criminal justice research projects involving federally recognized tribes (or tribally based organizations) and which represent a new tribal-researcher investigator partnership. The following research topics are of particular interest to the U.S.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks to applications for funding investigator-initiated, randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies to inform policing at the State, local, and tribal levels. As part of a multi-pronged strategy to build evidence-based knowledge and advance policing, NIJ is seeking to support research that proposes to conduct RCTs on the strategic priorities articulated in NIJ Policing Strategic Research Plan, 2017-2022. Applicants are required to identify the strategic priority and objective that their application addresses.

NIJ supports rigorous applied research on evidence-based tools, protocols, and policies for State, tribal, and local law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies that address drug trafficking, drug markets, and drug-related violence. The research focus of this solicitation is criminal investigation, prosecution, drug intelligence, and community surveillance relevant to narcotics law enforcement, forensic science, and/or medicolegal death investigation.
