In collaboration with OVC, NIJ seeks proposals for formative evaluations and evaluability assessments of victims of crime service programs. NIJ is interested in evaluations of different types of victim services including, but not limited to, programs embedded in hospitals/trauma centers; umbrella/network organizations; one-stop victim services programs; and/or programs embedded in criminal justice agencies. NIJ recognizes that many victim services programs may not be ready to support rigorous outcome evaluations, and as such, a phased approach is needed.

NIJ is seeking applications for funding research and evaluation projects that will improve our knowledge on how to identify, prevent, and reduce white collar crime in the United States. There are many types of offenses that may be classified as white collar crime. This solicitation focuses on three types of white collar crime: health care fraud, cyber-crime against individuals, and elder fraud.

NIJ is seeking applications for funding a multi-site evaluation of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program. PSN is a Department of Justice-sponsored initiative that involves cooperation of multiple criminal justice agencies and their partners working at the local level to develop and implement strategic responses to reduce gun crime. PSN also prioritizes the leadership of United States Attorney Offices in coordinating local efforts and carrying out federal prosecutions.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks to build upon its research efforts to understand and aid in accelerating the process of desistance from crime. Applicants should propose research projects that have clear implications for criminal justice policy and practice in the United States. NIJ encourages applicants to submit proposals for innovative approaches to advance the field's conceptualization of desistance, novel ways of understanding the processes underlying desistance from crime, and integrating desistance into criminal justice practice and policy.

NIJ is seeking applications for the funding of research and program evaluation projects that inform efforts to prevent and reduce street gang activity, violence, and victimization in the United States. Gangs and gang members are responsible for a large amount of crime and violence in many localities, and are responsible for a disproportionate share in those communities most afflicted by crime and violence.

NIJ is seeking applications for the funding of research and program evaluation projects that inform efforts to prevent and reduce intentional, interpersonal firearm violence and public mass shootings in the United States. NIJ will support scientifically rigorous research and evaluation projects designed to strengthen the knowledge base and produce findings with the high practical utility to improve public safety.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for research and evaluation projects that will: 1. Identify and inform the forensic community of best practices through the evaluation of existing laboratory protocols; and 2. Have a direct and immediate impact on laboratory efficiency and assist in making laboratory policy decisions.

The Domestic Radicalization and Terrorism program strives to better understand the primary drivers of radicalization and what can be done to prevent or intervene during the radicalization process through programmatic efforts. In FY2019, NIJ will emphasize an interest in evaluations of new and existing demonstration programs to prevent terrorism. NIJ will encourage applicants to submit projects which conduct phased, comparative and multi-site programmatic evaluations, help the field better understand risk factors, and develop risk assessment tools.

NIJ seeks applications for funding investigator-initiated, interdisciplinary research and evaluation projects related to the administration of justice in three areas: (1) eyewitness evidence; (2) police deflection strategies; and (3) forensic science testimony.

The Graduate Research Fellowship in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (GRF-STEM) provides grants to accredited academic institutions to support graduate research leading to doctoral degrees in topic areas that are relevant to preventing and controlling crime, and ensuring the fair and impartial administration of criminal justice in the United States.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for basic or applied research and development projects. An NIJ forensic science research and development grant supports a discrete, specified, circumscribed project that will: (1) increase the body of knowledge to guide and inform forensic science policy and practice, or (2) lead to the production of useful material(s), device(s), system(s), or method(s) that have the potential for forensic application.

The NIJ Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) Program in Social and Behavioral Sciences is open to doctoral students in all social and behavioral science disciplines. This program provides awards to accredited academic institutions to support graduate research leading to doctoral degrees in areas that are relevant to ensuring public safety, preventing and controlling crime, and ensuring the effective administration of criminal justice in the United States. Of particular interest is research on issues deemed critical by the U.S.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks to build knowledge on best practices in offender reentry. Specifically, NIJ requests proposals for rigorous research to examine reentry initiatives for adult or juvenile offenders that incorporate promising practices, strategies, or programs. These initiatives may be applicable to institutional or community corrections, or both. Preference will be given to applications that propose to use a randomized controlled trial (RCT). This research supports the U.S.

Awards made under this funding opportunity are grants or cooperative agreements that provide supplemental funds to awards made in a prior fiscal year. Typically, these awards were made initially in response to competitive solicitations. NIJ often uses continuations to fund multi-year research and development projects.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals to help innovation in criminal justice research by informing practitioners, policy makers, industry providers, federal agencies, as well as, NIJ of the emerging problems and opportunities of the criminal justice communities. Innovation also comes from within these criminal justice agencies, therefore NIJ is looking to continue supporting programs like LEADS, a NIJ program designed to increase the in-house research capabilities of law enforcement officers and agencies.

This solicitation seeks applications for funding for research and evaluation projects that will address the knowledge gaps related to trafficking in persons, with clear implications for criminal justice policy and practice in the United States. NIJ has funded research on trafficking in persons for over a decade, and is particularly interested in proposals that build upon and complement its earlier research investments.

NIJ seeks to develop scientific evidence and build practical knowledge of the factors that contribute to achieving enduring violence reductions in communities. NIJ is interested in receiving proposals for research with both empirical and theory-building elements that will lead to practical and generalizable recommendations.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for investigator-initiated research and evaluation projects to improve understanding, prevention and deterrence of firearms violence in general and public mass shooting incidents in particular. This solicitation aims to strengthen the knowledge base and improve public safety by producing findings with practical implications. This solicitation is focused specifically on producing research related to intentional, interpersonal firearms violence.
