Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $201,977)

Cobb County is a major suburb of the Atlanta metropolitan region, containing 7% of the state’s population. The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office (CCMEO) has never been a National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) accredited facility: however, the current management of the CCMEO is actively working toward obtaining accreditation.

The anticipated outcome of this project would include a completely updated policy and procedure manual, an updated quality assurance program, and NAME accreditation. These projects will strengthen the CCMEO’s services to the criminal justice system and the community by following industry and professional standards.
