The Kern Regional Crime Laboratory's goal for the DNA unit is to continue to improve on the casework turnaround time while ensuring that the backlog does not increase. The laboratory will continue to improve on the ability to process more DNA samples while also implementing new technologies that will allow as much information as possible to be obtained from evidence items submitted. The laboratory will purchase, validate, and implement the MiSeq FGx Forensic Genomic System and will purchase supplies and consumables for that system with this funding.
