The Monroe County Crime Laboratory (MCCL) is a regional crime lab that provides forensic services for a six county region of New York State. The goals of this project are to: 1) Coordinate funding with existing grants to maximize the laboratory’s analysis capacity; 2) provide continuing education and training by sending analysts to scientific conferences; 3) maintain the projected casework needs through supplies and outsourcing of DNA technical reviews; 4) purchase, upgrade and maintain software used for tracking, DNA data interpretation, and document control compliance; 5) purchase instrumentation, reagents, and consumables to stay current with changing technology; 6) fulfill accreditation requirements through maintenance, calibration, and audits. By the continued use of state of the art technology and continuing the education of the staff through training, the laboratory will continue to work towards enhancing casework capacity and reducing the backlog.
